My name is Andrew Redfern and I have been a secondary school teacher for twelve years. I have taught in two large but very different comprehensive schools and in 2012 joined an independent school in South Yorkshire as an Assistant Head with responsibility for teaching and learning. Apart from the three schools I have taught in, I have been very lucky to work with colleagues on CPD initiatives across a wide range of schools in South Yorkshire and across the UK. These opportunities have been extended through my work as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) working with a local teaching school. My subjects are Business Studies and Economics and I am a Principal Examiner for Edexcel. I am also currently completing the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
I love my job, my school and the pursuit of effective teaching and learning. My enthusiasm has lead me to write a book, for which this blog is an extension and I hope a source of inspiration, ideas or, at least, a few free resources for fellow teachers. My book, The Essential Guide to Classroom Practice: 200+ Strategies for Outstanding Teaching and Learning, has been a labour of love and a great way to get down in one place anything I have found effective over the past 12 years. I hope you find it useful.
As most teachers do who frequent the blogosphere, I am looking to share ideas, learn from others and get better at what I do.
